Biography
From the Isle of Lismore in the Inner Hebrides, Murray found learning traditional music on the accordion a brilliant way to help him deal with being away from home as he boarded in Oban for school.
As a teenager he studied music at UHI's Benbecula College.
Whilst studying he played at London’s Royal Albert Hall as part of his band Room 5.
Other memorable gigs to Murray also include several trips to Iraqi Kurdistan and a trip to Las Vegas. A Gaelic speaker, Murray, who also plays piano and alto saxophone and has a keen interest in languages, was a finalist in this year's prestigious BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award.
